The UN agricultural summit in Rome on June 3rd was reported in the Wall Street Journal.
Hosted by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the primary topic of discussion for the three-day meeting will be reversing the effects of global food inflation. The hot-button topic for debate will likely be a “food vs. fuel” argument with members of Unilever and BP presenting opposing cases.
Starsupply Renewables S.A. CEO Kevin McGeeney defends biofuels in the Wall Street Journal article stating, “The world needs biofuels for energy, plain and simple.” McGeeney also points out that biofuels will make up a majority of oil-supply growth in the European Union and United States this year.
